Boys Varsity Soccer · Varsity Soccer Update (10/7)

Hopefully the heart rates of our coaches and parents have returned to normal and our players have gotten some well deserved rest. I know the Hounds are getting good nutrition and are hydrating well.

We are so very proud of Our Hounds! As you know we graduated 16 seniors last year, including our All State and leading scorer, James Dulle! So to get back to the Championship Match of the CYC Tournament, with the opportunity to defend our ‘2018’ Walsh Division Championship, is really a tremendous accomplishment. This year’s tournament presented some very tough competition, as we faced perennial powers from Illinois. After playing Waterloo twice, for an aggregate score of 1-1, after 180 minutes of play, our only delta for the tournament was falling in pk’s, 4-2. Plusses for the tournament, included outstanding play by so many Hounds. We allowed just two goals in five games against excellent competition. We posted 3 shutouts. Our backline of Clark, Ned, Will, Ben T., Rohan, and Alex played shutdown defense. **Rohan took over at sweeper in game 4 for Clark who was on a college visit during the final two matches of the tournament. Adam took over for Andrew, who was also on a college visit during the semis and final. Dillon led the way this week with 6 goals and two assists. Rohan added two goals and Zack W. added his first tally of the season. Rohan demonstrated all week why he is one of the top players in the state. And one Hound in particular, very quietly played excellent soccer all week…way to go Zan and welcome back. Peter also provided excellent play throughout the week.

Once again, so very proud of our Hounds! Tough group of young men and also, some very outstanding leaders have emerged on this team.

This week has us on the road for three matches. Brentwood on Monday, at Parkway North on Thursday, and at John Burroughs on Saturday. Burroughs is #1 in Small School Rankings, and they are crushing opponents.
