On a cold and dreary morning the Clayton boys cross country team took to the starting line to solidify their place as one of the best teams in the state. As the gun went off and the crowd of runners raced through the first mile it looked as if the orange and blue would have a tough day. But knifing through the packed field of runners junior George Gelzer blasted his way to an all-state performance. Junior Emilio Rosas- linhard followed closely behind with a top 30 finish. A trio of seniors Justin Guilak, Isaiah Hayward, and Damien Stahl nailed down the finish for the ‘Hounds’. Sophomore Anand Mysorekar running in his first championship meet turned in a strong performance breaking into the top 100. Senior Andrew Wang finished stalwartly as the seventh man in the final race of his career.
Coming into the season the ‘Hounds’ were picked as the number 9 team in the state by the pundits.
With the 5th place in Saturday’s championship the Greyhounds established themselves as one of the best teams in the history of Clayton High School.
