Multiple Teams · Football – A Note from Coach Barnes – June Recap

Football Family,

This summer has been a very productive off season and we are headed in the right direction.

Our first 7 on 7 was the Football U tournament where 32 teams competed.

We finished 3-2 and lost on the last play of the game against Pattonville in the championship game in the silver bracket 15 – 18.

Our second tournament at St. Dominic was also a very competitive tournament that had 28 teams compete.

We went 4-2 and took third place defeating Jackson 34 – 12.

We had a lot of success and that has to do with the players working hard this summer and we are just getting started.

Instead of hoping we go out and compete we have a new attitude and mentality that we are playing to win.

I am very proud of the commitment and hard work the players have put in this summer on the field and in the weight room.

On a personal note, I also went to the Christian Kirksey youth football camp to support and represent Clayton football. I coached Christian at Hazelwood East in 2006-2008. Christian play’s for the Cleveland Browns LB #58. This is his second annual youth football camp and over 300 kids came and participated at the camp.
