Multiple Teams · A Note to FALL ATHLETES – PRACTICE BEGINS Monday August 6th, 2018

CHS Athletes/Parents,

Summer is officially here and practices are open to all high school players, including incoming freshmen.

The “Summer Schedule” link  can be found under the “MORE” tab in “RESOURCES” or by simply clicking here.

While summer practices are not mandatory, they are highly encouraged as skill level will determine team placement starting August 6th when fall sports begin.  We expect that all players are doing activities over the summer to prepare for the season so that we are ready the first day of fall practice.

Varsity teams will only dress a certain amount of players for games and seniors are not guaranteed a position on varsity because of their grade level. Some seniors may even be placed on JV as players will be positioned at the appropriate skill level.

Where an individual starts, does not necessarily mean that is where they will be by the end of the year.  Coaches will continually evaluate players throughout the season to ensure we are putting our best foot forward.  This means coming prepared day one to practice is vital. There will also be leadership opportunities within the programs for those looking to be a part of the team in a different capacity.

Team placement tryouts will start on August 6th and we will switch to an after school schedule (Monday-Friday) when classes resume on Wednesday August 15th from (3:15-5:45pm).

Eligibility requirements are due June 8th, which include a physical turned into Deb Dornfeld, and additional forms that will need to be filled out in the eDocs found in powerschool. Attached is the physical document that will need to be filled out along with an outline of what will need to be completed for eligibility.

Remember that you are only allowed three unexcused absences during the season and if you are not prepared, and at practice day one, this will have a negative impact on your initial success.

The cut off date for JV and Varsity will be Wednesday August 8th.

The cut off date for Freshman it will be Friday August 10th.

If you are going to be out of town on August 6th, or if there are extenuating circumstances, you must contact the coaching staff by July 1st to ensure your participation won’t be impacted.

Additionally, GAMES will begin Friday August 24th so please be sure to mark your calendars!
