Multiple Teams · Girls Soccer – Season Recap 2018

The ‘2018’ Hounds finished the season with a 6-9 record, before losing to Ladue in the District semi finals, 4-0. Prior to the loss in Districts, the Hounds suffered a tough blow, as First Team All conference defender, Sara Litteken sustained a broken collarbone against Parkway Central High. This team’s legacy, was one of hard work, every game, no matter the score or the outcome. Also, named all conference second team, was senior Katie Sharp and junior Eliza Copilevitz. Senior Maddy Ackerburg received conference sportsmanship recognition.

All 9 seniors represented the Hounds soccer program very well, both on and off the field. We wish all the best to them, Maddy Ackerburg, Dani Bonczewski, Kate Cooper, Anna Dinsmore, Sophie Havranek, Jess Kagan, Katherine Owings, Katie Sharp, and Catherine Walsh. We are excited that three Hounds will continue to play at the collegiate level. Jess Kagan at Beloit College, Katherine Owings at Johnson Wales, and Katie Sharp at Centre College. Although the Hounds graduate 9 seniors, the Hounds started 7 underclassmen in several games this season. Two freshmen in particular made a positive impact on the season, with Olivia Zindel excelling in goal and Ruthie Pierson playing great in several positions.

Sophomores, Rachel Markenson and Emily Bober played consistently throughout the entire season, and will be important players for the Hounds next season.

Although the overall record could have been better, the Hounds played some solid soccer and the effort was always outstanding.
