Clayton High School is proud to announce the signing of CHS Girls Golfer Nia Broussard to Missouri Valley College.
The event took place in the CHS Library today 1/23/18 at 3:30pm.
High School Coaches, parents, family, friends, teachers, administrators and fellow students were all in attendance.
It was a special day as Nia earned the right to participate in collegiate athletics.
This signing truly is a testament to the commitment of our school, students and community here in Clayton.
Below is a look at how Nia came to her decision:
“My Father, Andres Broussard, got me into golf at the age of six in The First Tee program of St. Louis with Ms. Ashley Nicks and Mr. Romeze Lawson. I never really took it seriously until my freshman year of high school. I realized what my coaches saw in me, that I could really mold myself into this amazing golfer that I have become, also the opportunities golf could provide for me.
I started hearing from different schools about their golf program my sophomore year. After my senior season ended I narrowed it down to my top three and visited them.
I went on a two day trip to Valley, there I got the opportunity to speak with Head Coach Dickson about the team. Quickly I realized at Missouri Valley they treat Golf like an actual sport unlike some schools. They hold golf to the same standard as they would any other collegiate sport, which I truly appreciate as a female athlete.
Missouri Valley then became the perfect fit for me with their science academic program and the team itself.
Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches who have pushed me to get to where I am now.
I am beyond blessed to say I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Missouri Valley College as a Viking!
Valley Will Roll!!”
On behalf of the Athletic Department we would like to congratulate Nia and her family!
